Gulf states are pushing the UK to launch negotiations on a free trade deal but London is showing little interest in prioritizing the issue, despite the region accounting for a substantial chunk of total UK trade.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has reached out to Pakistani authorities to resume negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA) by June this year, a top Pakistani diplomat in Riyadh said.
The GCC states are drawn to the African states’ promise, especially as the new continental trade deal will facilitate opportunities and unlock growth in parts of Africa that were previously difficult to access.
