Zambia
Ghana and Zambia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening long-standing bilateral relations, placing renewed emphasis on boosting intra-African trade and accelerating investment-led growth under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Zambia has officially gazetted its Provisional Schedule of Tariff Concessions under the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement.
Current realities are likely to counter the expectations that the AfCFTA is some kind of silver bullet that will transform Africa, sweeping away decades of embedded dysfunction and challenges.
Zambia has become the latest country to ratify the Tripartite Free Trade Area, bringing the number of countries that have ratified the agreement and deposited the instruments to nine. The agreement, being pursued by COMESA, the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), needs a total of 14 countries to enter into force.
Zambia wants to sign a free trade deal with Turkey, according to the ambassador of the southern African country, while also inviting Turkish businessmen and the private sector for investment in Zambia.
